Briton Refrigerant R417A
Briton Refrigerant R417A is an HFC retrofit refrigerant for R22 in direct expansion stationary air conditioning (AC) and medium temperature commercial refrigeration systems.
Refrigerant R417A Applications and Use
R417a has physical properties fairly similar to R22 refrigerant. It is best suited to replacing R22 in small (< 15 kW) fixed air conditioning systems. R417A does not require synthetic oil because it contains 3.4 wt% of R600 (butane). R600 is an excellent oil carrier. This advantage makes R417a ideal for serving as a true drop-in replacement in existing R22 equipment without any modification.It is also suitable for medium/high temperature commercial refrigeration systems and DX coolers, for example.
R417A has a lower discharge temperature and pressure than R22, which most likely extends the compressor’s service life. R417A has also been found to yield energy savings in certain systems.
